Who is Jack Herer?

Jack Herer was born in Buffalo, New York, in 1938. He was best known as a cannabis activist and author whose most famous book is The Emperor Wears No Clothes. Jack wrote the book while serving 14 days in prison for refusing to pay a $5 fine for trespassing while canvassing for signatures. The book is a best seller and has been in continuous print for 35 years. It was a crucial text in the efforts to decriminalise and legalise cannabis and to expand the use of hemp for industrial use. 

Always busy campaigning for legal hemp (he once attended 60 rallies in 48 places over one week), Jack Herer, known as a 'Front Line Freedom Fighter for Cannabis,' twice ran for US President (88 and 92) and ran a popular headshop in Oregon. Leading up to his passing from a heart attack in 2012, Jack was a prominent figure on the expo and activism circuit around the world. The man certainly made his mark and is in the CounterCultre Hall of Fame, and pretty much every seed bank has a cannabis seed bearing his name.
