Welcome to the Amsterdam Seed Center Year in Review 2022. It's like Spotifys' year in review, though less personal and emotionally triggering, with much less to do with music and much more about what cannabis seeds you bought.
You might think the best thing about this time of year is spending time with loved ones, wrapping presents, and partying with colleagues. You're wrong. It's the endless stream of promos and special offers from all your favorite seedbanks. You can pretend all you like, but we've got your number and know about you. You're all about Seeds, seeds, and more seeds, and so are we.
Don't be fooled by what you've seen in the shop. We might have turned Amsterdam Seed Center into a winter wonderland, but it is still the best place to buy cannabis seeds online and in person.
We've had a busy year, which means you have. You've all been busy growing, and by looking at sales, quite a few of you have tried something new, and some have stuck to the tried and tested.
Before we get to our Top Ten bestselling cannabis seeds in 2022 and our Top Ten list of best newcomers, here's a recap from the past year in cannabis.
2022: A year in cannabis
By crazy modern standards, 2022 was a run-of-the-mill year, but plenty has happened that might have distracted you from the world of cannabis.
Here's what you could have missed in 2022.
Thailand legalises cannabis (Sort of)
Thailand has been making moves in the cannabis world for a few years, they legalised medical cannabis in 2018, and this year legailsed the recreational use of cannabis products under 0.2<THC. The law is complex with nuances, but it is already having a positive effect in surprising ways.
A Thai farmer licensed to grow medical cannabis mixed cannabis into the water feed of his chickens and had positive results. Scientists were also interested and conducted a study of 1,000 chickens. They reported fewer cases of bird flu and better-quality meat.
Not-so-efficient Germans
Renowned for their efficiency, the Germans are taking their time rolling out the legalization of cannabis. We all thought 2022 was the year that we could smoke freely on the streets of Berlin and Hamburg, only to be disappointed by delays from the German Ministry of Health. Hopefully, 2023 says Auf Wiedersehen to delays and Hallo to Mary Jane.
NY Weed
New York became the latest to issue dispensary licenses, 36 in total, as the state looks to create a lucrative cannabis market. The place is famous for never sleeping and isn't resting on this, looking set to open the first dispensaries by the end of 2022.
Elsewhere in the world
Over in Ireland, they are to discuss a bill that essentially decriminalizes possession of cannabis. Lawmakers in the US are calling for legalization at a federal level, and the world's boffins have been learning all sorts of new things about cannabis.

That was what the world has been up to, but we know you want to know what 2022 was like for Amsterdam Seed Center. On the back of our 2021 celebration for our 10th anniversary, 2022 was going to have its work cut out.
We started the year with optimism and expectation, and we are not disappointed with how it turned out. The expo circuit is back in full swing, the streets of Amsterdam are bustling, and we've had more new seedbanks and breeders call the Seed Center home than ever before.
We almost can't wait for 2023 because more new seedbanks and breeders mean more new promos and freebies for us to give to you.
