Best CBD strains to grow

While we wait for a coronavirus cure, scientists have found that CBD helps reduce the lung damage caused by COVID-19.

A study at the Medical College of Georgia has shown that a CBD treatment has increased a natural peptide called apelin, which reduces inflammation. The cannabis community has long championed CBD strains and effects of them, so it comes without surprise that CBD might be an effective treatment against respiratory diseases. Not only does CBD reduce inflammation, but the report showed it also improves oxygen levels and reduces the physical lung damage caused by infections like the COVID-19.

Bagseeds: To Grow or Not To Grow?!

Congratulations, you’ve found a seed. More specifically a bagseed, as the seeds found in packaged or bagged flower are commonly called.

Maybe congratulations aren’t quite in order. Depending on where it came from, who you ask, and if the seed is viable or not will affect your level of excitement.

While finding a seed in your stash is not ideal for truly exceptional flower and much less common than it once was, it is a pretty ordinary occurrence. Anyone who has been smoking cannabis for some time has undoubtedly come across a bagseed. Sometimes you’ll notice one when grinding down some flower or you’ll see it pop, spark, and crackle as the heat of your lit bowl pops the precious kernel within.

Ok, so you found a bagseed. Now what?

Basics 103: Regular Cannabis Seeds Information

Regular Seeds (Regs) is the term applied to non-feminized seeds that produce either male or female cannabis plants, in a natural ratio. That being said, Regs are not really suitable for a direct seed-to-harvest crop, because there won’t be only female plants and, as said before, only female plants will produce flowers (buds). Regular Seeds are mostly used to breed new cannabis cultivars (strains) or for the selection of mother-plants for cloning purposes.

Basics 102: Feminised Cannabis Seeds Information

Feminized seeds (Fems) are guaranteed to only produce female plants and because they are specifically bred for this reason; NO BOYS ALLOWED! Growing cannabis from feminized seeds will bypass the hassle with males and the whole selection process; this comes in handy especially when growers are limited by space (keeping a motherplant requires more space). With Fems you will be able to grow your favorite genetics directly from seed to harvest!

Maximize your Autoflower Grow

Autoflowering cannabis plants have become popular for a number of reasons. Growers who are looking to save time have found the quick flowering time of autoflowers to be useful for obvious reasons. Due to the ruderails gene present in auto's, most auto's will harvest  within 60 -75 days of germination, the plant will grow much faster and ultimately flower faster than feminized and regular plants.

Mars & Venus (& Sex) by @EsjeHerb

What do they say? Men are from Mars and women are from Venus… Identification and separation of male and female plants is a very important aspect in the cultivation of regular cannabis seeds. If you don’t recognize the signs it could cost you your crop!  Female cannabis plants produce cannabis flowers, which are used for medical and recreational purposes. On the other hand, male cannabis has minimal amounts of active cannabis compounds (cannabinoids) and produce pollen pouches instead of flowers. Their role in cannabis plant life is only to spread that seed!  When the pollen of a male cannabis plant reaches a female (through pollination) then fertilization takes place, and the female plant will start producing seeds like crazy. The plant puts all its energy into the production of seeds (comparable with the body putting all its energy into producing a child in a pregnant woman) and not putting its energy into producing big fat buds.   So if you want to harvest cannabis BUDS instead of seeds, make sure you separate the males from the females before the males can pollinate the ladies. So, next question… How do you know if you have a male hiding out in your grow room?!

We All Love Exotics!

The AmsterdamSeedCenter-Forum is a place where we can talk (anonymously) about everything that is related to our beloved cannabis plant. This is a place where I can also interact with you guys too. The @EsjeHerb column is great, but a two way conversation is even better! Let us expand our knowledge of the mighty herb and all things grow! Come and find me on  http://amsterdamseedcenter-forum.com/viewforum.php?f=46

So I have a thread on the ASC-forum running right now about EXOTIC CULTIVARS. It is a real HOT TOPIC at the moment so I am going to bring this discussion to my blog this month.

From my experience I can really conclude that there is a difference between ‘common weed’ and more ‘exotic/terpene rich flowers’. Part of it has to do with growing and drying/curing skills, but I’m sure that the genetics that are being used play a BIG part.
